Accessible shows and events

Everyone can enjoy performances at Sherman Theatre

We offer a wide range of services to make our performances accessible to all.

We make performances accessible through:

Captioning – the script of a play and all sound cues displayed on a screen visible in the auditorium.

BSL interpretation – a play translated into British Sign Language, interpreted by a signer at the edge of the stage.

Audio Description – a live commentary on everything that is going on onstage. Headsets are provided.

Relaxed performances
– You can move around, talk and vocalise as you need to
– The auditorium house lights will be switched on during show at a low level to enable you to leave easily and the outer doors into the foyer will remain open throughout the show
– If you would benefit from ear defenders they are available to loan for free from our Ushers in the auditorium and the Box Office team
– A Chill-Out Zone in the foyer with a blackout tent and sensory toys, located in the corner by the window, will be available for you to use whenever you need to

Ear Defenders – If you require ear defenders to watch any of our performances, they are available at the Box Office.

Please feel free to contact the Box Office to discuss any access requirements.

All of our access services are available at no additional cost beyond the standard ticket price.
