THE SHERMAN AT 50: CHRISTMAS 2023

Uncategorised

Over the past 50 years Sherman Theatre has been the destination for families across Cardiff and South Wales looking for exceptional entertainment at Christmas time. In the Main House, generations have been enthralled by spectacular productions of classic stories. In the Studio, children aged 3-6 have been introduced to the magic of theatre with delightful tales told in an informal setting.

To celebrate Christmas in its 50th birthday year, Sherman Theatre will captivate audiences with new versions of two of the best-loved stories of all time. In a co-production with Theatr Iolo, everyone aged 7 and upwards will have the opportunity to experience JM Barrie’s classic adventure Peter Pan (27 Nov 23 – 6 Jan 24) in a new version by Theatr Iolo Associate Artist Catherine Dyson (Transporter Theatr Iolo, Thunder Road RedCape Theatre). Theatr Iolo’s Artistic Director Lee Lyford will direct (The Wind in the Willows Sherman Theatre; A Christmas Carol Bristol Old Vic). The littlest theatregoers will be enchanted by a new version of Hansel and / a Gretel (3 – 4 Nov 23 & 27 Nov 23 – 30 Dec 23) by Katie Elin-Salt (Love and (Loss) in the Time of Corona TEN series Sherman Theatre, Celebrated Virgins Theatr Clwyd). Hansel and / a Gretel will be performed separately in English and Welsh and is translated into Welsh by Branwen Davies.
