Team Sherman is set to take on Cardiff Half Marathon.
On Sunday 5 October, Sherman Theatre will swap the stage for the streets of Cardiff as our team of fundraisers lace up to run the Cardiff Half Marathon.
A dedicated group of nine runners will take on the 13.1 mile challenge to raise vital funds for the Sherman’s Share Your Passion Fund, maintaining affordable access across our creative engagement and outreach work.
Last year donations raised through the Share Your Passion Fund helped to support our Creative Engagement team to work with 1,500 children and young people from across south Wales, deliver 363 bespoke workshops, and provide free or discounted tickets and supported travel for schools to attend performances at the Sherman. The donations raised through the Cardiff Half Marathon will enable this important work to continue and grow.
Running this year to raise a combined target of £2,500 is Mike, Jonny, Tom, Laura, Marc, Fiona, Caroline, Josh and Kevin, each with their own personal reason for running in support of Sherman Theatre.
“The Sherman has supported me through my development as an artist – I owe so much to their work, and that has only been possible because they are a charity supported by the generosity of others. Training for my first half marathon has been a huge effort (with literal blood, sweat and tears), but if it goes any way towards helping this brilliant venue to continue offering chances for new talent to emerge in Wales, then it’s worth it. ” Tom
“I’m running the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of the Sherman Theatre because they’ve given me (and so many others) the chance to step into the world of acting and creativity. The Sherman isn’t just a theatre, it’s a place that opens doors, nurtures talent, and inspires confidence in anyone brave enough to take their first step on stage. I will always be eternally grateful for the opportunities they gave me, and the amazing people I’ve met in the process” Mike
“Proving the influence of Sherman Theatre extends far beyond Cardiff, I’ve made my way over from Dalston to raise funds and take part in the Cardiff Half. I’m a firm believer that fantastic theatre should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background and without having to travel into London’s West End so it’s great support such a strong voice for Wales and the arts. With any luck this passion will carry me swiftly through the 13mile course!” Fiona
Cheering our runners on will be our official Sherman cheer squad, stationed along the route to keep spirits high and encourage every step of the way!
