Dragged back to a Valleys wedding she never wanted to attend and running from a life she can’t quite face – Phoebe Phillips is forced to reckon with who she is, where she comes from, and what it means to belong.

Powered by live beats and brutal honesty, My Mix(ed up) Tape is a riotous story of rage, love, and identity.

Expect a funny, full-throttle new play, soundtracked by a mixtape of bangers from a live on-stage DJ.

Phoebe’s back home in the Valleys and is being forced to attend cousin Caroline’s wedding. Inside the Working Men’s Club Wedding-O-Dreams, things are already unravelling – the bouncer’s barred her, Caroline is determined to make Phoebe the problem, and yes — Jamie “Neck Licker” Richards is still king of the neg.

But tonight is different. Between the dodgy buffet, brutal banter, and family politics, Phoebe is just trying to survive the night. But there’s more going on than old flames and old grudges. Beneath the booze and bangers, she’s carrying the weight of a secret — and sooner or later, it’s going to spill.

This is not your tidy tale of “going home.” It’s raw, rude, and ripping open the silence around female anger, family mess, and the lies we tell to survive.

Told through a mixtape of memories and iconic tracks, My Mix(ed up) Tape is a funny, full-throttle new play about identity, class, rage, and belonging in modern Wales.

My Mix(ed up) Tape is written and performed by Katie Payne (MUMFIGHTER – Stage Debut Awards Winner, CROW GIRL – Paramount), with a live DJ set by DJ ONAI. Directed by award-winning and critically acclaimed director, Stef O’Driscoll (Paines Plough, Nabokov).
