Getin Evans

Katherine Chandler
Playwright in Residence

Katherine Chandler is a Welsh playwright who works with BBC Drama, Bristol Old Vic, Clean Break, Dirty Protest, National Theatre Wales, Pentabus Theatre, Sherman Theatre, Theatr Iolo and Theatr na nÓg. She adapted both The Princess and the Pea / Y Dywysgoes a’r Bysen Fechan Fach and last year’s Christmas show The Ugly Duckling/Yr Hwyaden Fach Hyll. Katherine’s Bruntwood Prize winning play Bird will be produced by the Royal Exchange Theatre and Sherman Cymru, in May of this season.

Gethin Evans
Associate Artist: Director

Gethin was Associate Director at Sherman Theatre from 2015 – 2017. Gethin worked on the development of numerous scripts and playwrights through writer development initiative New Welsh Playwrights Programme, supported by The Carne Trust. Gethin is co-Artistic Director of Cwmni Pluen.

Daf James
Associate Artist: Writer

Daf James is an award-winning writer, composer and performer, working in theatre, radio and television in both English and Welsh. His work has been performed across the UK and internationally. He trained in the Lecoq pedagogy at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) and has a Ph.D in Theatre Studies from Warwick University.

Credits include: Wonderman (GaggleBabble/NTW); Crackanory (Tiger Aspect/Dave); All That I Am (Richard Burton Company/Sherman Theatre); Mother Courage (NTW); Gwaith/Cartref (Fiction Factory, Celtic Media Award); Fe Ddaw'r Byd i Ben (Richard Burton Company/Sherman Theatre); Llwyth (Theatr Genedlaethol/Sherman Theatre, Wales Theatre Critics Award).

Patricia Logue
Associate Artist: Voice, Text and Accent Specialist

Patricia Logue is a professional Voice, Text and Dialect coach who has worked extensively in theatre in Ireland and the UK and who regularly assists on Sherman productions. She is a lecturer in Acting and in Voice at RWCMD and runs Tengella Productions, which has produced Beckett’s NOT I to be featured in the Sherman’s new Autumn 2016 Season.

Andrew Sterry

Gary Owen
Associate Artist: Writer

Gary Owen is the winner of the Best New Play at the UK Theatre Awards 2015, for Iphigenia in Splott, which toured to The National Theatre’s Temporary Theatre, the Sherman and across the UK. He received the George Devine, Meyer Whitworth and Pearson Awards. Recent work includes work for Royal Court and Watford Palace Theatre.

Andrew Sterry
Associate Artist: Community Theatre

Andrew is a writer and director making original theatre and performance with and about the people who are in it. He collaborates with artists, performers and musicians; museums, charities and schools and creates work in a range of spaces from day centres and care homes to community centres and theatres.

Born and raised in Mid Wales, he trained as an actor and theatre director at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Recent theatre includes: Me, Myself and I (University of Wales); Love Cardiff: City Road Stories and Home (Sherman Theatre). Recent engagement projects for the Sherman include: Sherman Plays - a series of readings and conversations for older people across Cardiff and Fresh Ink a playwriting project for Schools.

"The Sherman has gained a real momentum under Rachel’s ambitious leadership. I am delighted to be joining the team as an Associate Artist at such a exciting time for the theatre and the communities we serve."

Associate Artist: Director

Theatre includes: The Oreseia, The Knight Of The Burning Pestle and Thomas Tallis, (Shakespeare's Globe); The Golden Hours (Royal Court); The Bloody Ballad (Gagglebabble and Tour); The Passion and The Passion: One Year On (as Project Associate for National Theatre Wales); Under Milk Wood (Royal & Derngate) All That I Am, Madness In Valencia (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama).

"Under Rachel's leadership the Sherman has confidently marked out a space for itself on the UK's theatre map. I am really excited to be attached to the theatre at such an ambitious and fecund time."
