Sherman Theatre’s work with Trusts and Foundations provides vital support to enable us to create great theatre experiences, to nurture and support Welsh and Wales-based theatre makers, to develop young people and to connect with communities across Cardiff.
Here are a few examples of what this support is helping us to achieve:
- Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation - Currently supporting the Sherman Theatre/ Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Design Prize. Now in its third year, the prize is awarded to a final year design student at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and gives them their first professional, paid job as a designer on the Sherman Studio Christmas production.
- Esmée Fairbairn Foundation - Currently supporting our Introduction to Playwriting programme which offers young people aged 15 -18 the opportunity to explore and develop their creative writing skills.
- Paul Hamlyn Foundation - The Sherman 5 programme was established with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation in 2013. The first phase of funding ran until 2018, and the programme is currently in its second stage funding through to 2022. Sherman 5 supports diverse communities, including Refugee & Asylum Seekers, Older people, D/deaf people, Visually Impaired people, and families to access and engage with our work.
- Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries Programme - In 2018, Sherman Theatre became one of 40 arts organisations taking part in the Weston Jerwood Creatives Bursaries programme. Through funded Fellowships, the programme supports individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds to have fair access to careers in the arts.
