Peace at last. Until an unwanted sleeping companion puts a stop to it all.

TEN is all about giving you a short theatre fix that you can fit into your day. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a coffee break or the end of a day of remote working or when the children have finally gone to bed and you can finally put your feet up. The ten plays have been written by an exceptional line-up of emerging and established Welsh and Wales-based writers and are being self-filmed by a brilliant cast of actors.

TEN is made possible by a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor.

TEN is inspired by Papatango’s Isolated But Open programme.

Rick Allden

About to give up writing with a baby on the way, the last play I ever planned to write was shortlisted for last year's National Theatre of Wales and BBC Wales Writer in Residence. I’m currently part of the BBC Welsh Voices development programme along with some tremendous people, and have recently had a different monologue commissioned by the BBC. That one has treasure in it.

Q&A with Rick Allden

What inspires you as a writer?

I'm never too sure about this sort of thing, but I think it'd probably be the characters. Giving voices to people I want to give voices to. Maybe it's the control it affords too. A quick witty retort is far easier if you've been working on it for a month.

Tell us something about No Sleep ‘Til Filton Abbey Wood?

Someone’s fallen asleep on my shoulder on a train before. Didn’t say anything, he was a big chap, but I didn’t like being a bed. Lockdown has made me more considerate. I'm not saying I'm Bono, but I'm going to come out of this more willing to offer a shoulder.
