NETWORK PLAY READINGS

Wolfie

Writer Ross Willis

Director Izzy Rabey

Twin sisters separated at birth. One will live in the woods and be raised by a wolf. The other will discover science as her mother melts away in a bath. Will their paths cross again? Wolfie is part fairy tale, part chronicle of families ties lost through the care system.

About the project

Wolfie invites you on an adventure into the dark, magical and anarchic world of Ross Willis’s hilarious and heart-breaking play. The final Network Play Reading from National Theatre Wales and Sherman Theatre offers an opportunity to experience a contemporary drama classic, with sound design by rising star of the Welsh music scene Eadyth Crawford.

Izzy Rabey

Izzy is a Theatre Director, Applied Drama Facilitator (specialising in adolescent mental health and Autism) and Musician originally from Machynlleth in Mid-Wales. She co-founded Run Amok in 2013 with Jonathan Patton and since then has directed numerous productions for the company including a sell-out tour of 4:48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane (2014), Flowers of the Dead Red Sea by Ed Thomas (2014) and Hang by debbie tucker green (2017).

Assistant Director credits include: Play/Silence (The Other Room Theatre, 2016), On Bear Ridge (National Theatre Wales/The Royal Court, 2019) and All of It by Allistair McDowell (The Royal Court, 2020).

Izzy has worked on new writing as a director and applied theatre practitioner in association with Pains Plough, Theatr Clwyd and Sherman Theatre. She is currently Trainee Director at The Royal Court and an Emerging Director with National Theatre Wales.

Wolfie will be livestreamed at 7pm on 11 July and will then be available on demand.

Wolfie was commissioned by Theatre503 as part of the 503Five 2017/18 and received its world premiere at Theatre503 in March 2019. The Wolfie playtext is available to purchase from Nick Hern Books.
