We are pleased to announce further projects as part of our Interval programme which is designed to support our artistic and freelance community and give our audiences the exceptional new writing they are used to.
STRUCTURE WORKSHOP WITH JOE MURPHY
Sherman Theatre Artistic Director Joe Murphy will give a free workshop on why and how we tell a story through writing a play. The workshop will focus on the sacred flaw model of storytelling and the five act structure of plays. The session will be followed by a Q&A. The workshop will be conducted via Zoom and is open to any Welsh or Wales-based writers. Places are limited and offered on a first come first served basis. To book your place email email@example.com
CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT PROJECTS
As part of our Interval programme Sherman Theatre’s Creative Engagement Manager is using a variety of digital media and online platforms to ensure that we can continue to connect with and develop our young people, as well as providing on-going support to a variety of teachers and teaching artists in the delivery of their courses and projects.
Our Introduction to Playwriting programme for first time playwrights aged 15 – 18 will continue to be led by Matt Hartley and Branwen Davies. Our professionals will carry on setting weekly tasks for our Participants, whose plays will be performed at Sherman Theatre once our doors have reopened. This scheme encourages the on-going development of young people’s creative writing, literacy and analytical skills. Introduction to Playwriting is supported by Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Our vibrant Youth Theatre and Sherman Sherbets are rehearsing at home on a variety of different projects and we are thrilled that we will be able to share some of their work through our online platforms very soon.
Work created through our intergenerational Tydfil Tales project with Coleg Merthyr and Daffodils Care Home that aimed to tackle social isolation (Supported by Awards For All) will also be shared online.
We will be releasing activity resources based on a variety of productions for you and your children in the coming days aimed at both Primary and Secondary sectors, which we hope you will enjoy doing together.
