Workshops And Training

We offer a variety of workshops and training opportunities for all ages.

Workshops accompanying Sherman Cymru Productions

From Autumn 2008 the Sherman Cymru Learning & Engagement and Literary teams offer workshops to accompany the majority of Sherman Cymru productions. It’s a great way to get inside a new play and the process of creating it and enables participants to engage with some of Wales’s freshest new writing.

Intro workshops open up the play themes and characters through games, exercises and practical scriptwork.
Outro workshops give participants opportunity to feedback on the play and explore different ways of staging the work.

Aims:
• To give participants access to the work we make at Sherman Cymru
• To open up the play, the characters and staging choices in a lively and engaging way
• To address in detail the themes of the play
• To assist participants with their own work in school/college or university during and beyond the workshop
• To provide background to the play and inspire further interest in the writer and company

Who are the workshops for?
• Young people: Pupils in schools, tertiary colleges and universities; Youth Centres and young people’s    organisations
• Adults: Community groups; asylum and refugee support groups, special interest groups and clubs

The workshops last approximately 1.5 hours. The workshop team will work to the timings that suit the needs of each group.

Cost: There will be a special combined workshop and performance package price for each production.

Quotes from recent workshop participants from Coleg Glan Hafren:

"It gave us more of an insight of the play and it helped me understand the plot and the characters more when I watched it. It made me more interested in the play because I wanted to find out more about the characters and everyone's story."

"I enjoyed the play more because I understood it better."
