Celebrating 400 Years of Shakespeare

As You Like It features some of Shakespeare’s favourite lovers and philosophers. In this modern production, Rosalind and her cousin Celia escape a post-industrial nightmare to the dream-like Forest of Arden. There, disguised as a boy, Rosalind counsels Orlando in the art of love and they fall spectacularly head over heels.

This production is part of the RSC Open Stages project and features our own Sherman Players performing Shakepeare’s text. Directed by Paul Jenkins, a member of the London-based Factory Theatre whose productions of Shakespeare have played at The Globe and around the country. This much-loved classic will feature music and choreography in a cross-dressing comedy of gender and transformation.

The RSC Openstage programme is a UK wide project with over 100 amateur companies who produce their own Shakespeare or Shakespeare-inspired productions.
