"Did we have to do this on a quiz night?"

"It was his favourite night. Doubled his takings."

The family have gathered in the back room of the pub ready to scatter Dad's ashes which currently reside in a Nike shoe box. But bitter resentments and long-held grudges might hinder Dad from resting in peace…

Following the success of Leviathan earlier this year, Sherman Cymry in association with Òran Mór, present the return of the award-winning series A Play, A Pie and A Pint, at the Sherman.  Anita Vettesse's darkly comic Happy Hour details the petty squabbles and failed aspirations of one family that will resonate long after the curtain call.

Does exactly what it says on the tin, a fun evening of food, drink and drama. The perfect post-work pick me up!

Reviews

"...the default setting of Evan's carefully placed production is one of simmering resentments, with the atmosphere made to crackle by the playwright's artfully funny script" The Times ****

"Time and time again, you just have to laugh: the dialogue is too sharp, too full of hilariously venemous point-scoring not to - but the punch lines are never at the expense of the underlying griefs that this dysfunctional family simply can't bury or forgive." The Herald Scotland ****

"Hannah Donaldson and Stephen McCole give a terrific trio of performances, in this beautifully shaped family drama; and it comes laced with a surreal and bitter comic sharpness, in the writing, that announces the arrival of a major new talent, not to be ignored." The Scotsman ****

"A Play, A Pie and A Pint proves the perfect post-work pick me up." Western Mail
