Show Information

Continuing the success of Sherman Cymru and Òran Mór’s partnership, we welcome back the highly popular series A Play, A Pie and A Pint, with a new script by Michael- Alan Read; Mr. and Mrs. Laughton.

As ever we combine top quality theatre with excellent food. You get both a pie and pint as part of your ticket deal as well as a brilliant evening of entertainment. Following last year’s success of Leviathan and Happy Hour, don’t miss out on the fun, food, drink and drama.

Mr. and Mrs. Laughton is a seemingly charming yet candid window into one of the most famous Hollywood marriages of the 1930s. Charles Laughton was a major Hollywood star throughout his career, with perhaps his most recognisable role as Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Henry VIII in The Secret Life of Henry VIII. Elsa was well known for her title role in the 1935 film The Bride of Frankenstein. This is an unapologetic insight into their complex relationship, which they kept so hidden from public eyes.

"As Mr. and Mrs. Laughton explores the true story of a famous couple, we have been focusing on the elements of their relationship that are universal and relatable. They are two lost individuals who find comfort in each other. Audiences can expect to go on a journey that explores first meetings, betrayal, sexuality, grief and acceptance... Whilst also, of course, enjoying a pie and a pint." Gethin Evans, Associate Director at Sherman Cymru.
