Show Information

Have you ever lost something? A toy? A tooth? A memory?

What if, one day, you lost all of your 'silly'?

When the Emperor demands the coolest clothes to help him be, well, 'cool'... The call is answered by a pair of wily Weavers, who concoct a cunning plan and land everyone in an embarrassing situation. Who will help the Emperor rediscover his joy and silliness?

Sherman Theatre and Theatr Iolo present The Emperor's New Clothes / Dillad Newydd yr Ymerawdwr - a reimagining of the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale. Written by award-winning playwright Alun Saunders, with songs and live music, there's something here for the whole family this Christmas!

Made especially for 3 - 6 year olds and their families.

Activity Pack

We’ve created an activity pack to give you an insight into the world created within the show. The pack has been designed for teachers, parents and carers to use both before and after visiting the show, in the classroom or at home. The activities within the pack can be adapted to suit each pupil or child’s age and ability. They are a creative introduction to many aspects of theatre — from drama and music, to art and design — involving improvisation, imagination, and storytelling.

Activities for Welsh learners

On the 20th of December there’s a great opportunity for families who are learning Welsh (or where not all the family members speak Welsh) to join us before the Welsh language shows and take part in some entertaining activities designed specially for the whole family to enjoy. Using games and music, learners of all ages will gain a better understanding of the show’s vocabulary and story whilst having fun together.
