Rhaglen Dramodwyr Cymreig Newydd: Blog - Matthew Ingram

05 Gor 2016

Ym mis Mawrth, lansiodd y Sherman Raglen Dramodwyr Cymreig Newydd i ddod o hyd i'r gorau o ysgrifennu newydd gan artistiaid Cymraeg neu sydd yn byw yng Nghymru. Ar ol dderbyn llawer o geisiadau dewiswyd 14 o sgriptiau i fod yn rhan o'r rhaglen. Ar hyn o bryd mae'r 14 o ddramodwyr yn cymryd rhan mewn sesiynau wythnosol er mwyn datblygu eu sgiliau ysgrifennu ar gyfer y theatr, dan arweiniad Brad Birch (Royal Court, Sherman Cymru, Soho Theatre). Bydd y dramodwyr yn rhannu eu meddyliau am y broses. Yma, mae Matthew Ingram yn disgrifio'r broses.

Now that we've had the majority of our sessions on the Programme, thoughts are beginning to turn to the next stage the process: developing and writing our own full-length scripts.

It's a daunting thought but everyone on the group is now starting to really support and push one another. As a relatively diverse group, there’s a real sense of exchange going on: exchange of ideas, exchange of advice and exchange of knowledge.

Being on this programme has been a real confidence boost. I’ve learned that I have just as much right as anyone else to send scripts to companies that I once thought were a ‘holy grail’ for writing; or that I have just as much right to seek out an agent; or that I have just as much right to call myself a playwright.

Regardless of how my script turns out, that’s probably the biggest thing I’ll take away from this experience.
