Volunteering at the Sherman

30 Oct 2015

Since January 2015 over 100 people have chosen to dedicate some of their valuable time by joining our team of volunteers who work hard to welcome our audiences and deliver excellent customer service. The Sherman Theatre is the only producing house in the capital city, and one of Wales’ most important arts organisation.

We are embarking upon an exciting and busy time of year – Christmas! To achieve our commitment to creating an artistic programme that is ambitious, inventive and memorable, and giving our audiences a great experience, we need to continue to grow our team of volunteer ushers for the festive period.  We have two magical Christmas shows at the Sherman, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in our main house for everyone aged 7+ and The Princess and the Pea | Y Dywysoges a’r Bysen Fechan Fach in our studio, made especially for ages 3 – 6 and their families.  With two performances of both shows nearly every day, with a combination of weekday, weekend and evening performances, we’re going to be busy and need a brilliant team.

Whatever your age or background, if you feel you’ve got the energy and experience for this challenge, we’d be delighted to meet you. As a Christmas usher you will receive a great benefits package including ticket offers, invitation to judge our in-house Christmas competitions, Christmas Parties and Press night. You will gain skills and experience to boost a career within the arts, the chance to develop and practice Welsh language and BSL skills, and importantly the opportunity to meet like-minded volunteers.

Come along and meet us at our next drop-in event at the Sherman Theatre on Thursday 12 November (between 6pm and 9pm). We will introduce you to the Front of House team, including some of our existing ushers, give you a look around the theatre and chat to you about how volunteering this Christmas will be beneficial to you.

Training sessions will take place on Saturday 21 November, 10am – 1pm and Monday 23 November 6pm – 9pm.  Attendance at one of these sessions is compulsory for you to be able to volunteer over Christmas.

Please submit expressions of interest to duty.manager@shermancymru.co.uk

We look forward to you joining the team.
