Christmas @ Sherman!

10 Oct 2008

This Christmas Sherman Cymru will present two of the most well loved children’s stories.

The mainstage show for the over 7s will be a new enchanting adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic The Snow Queen. The Snow Queen rules her magic kingdom with a heart of ice and a grip as cold as steel. When shards of an enchanted mirror fly into Cei’s eye he falls under her spell. With Cei as her helper, The Snow Queen plans to freeze the hearts of all living things and rule supreme over a world of snow and ice. Join Gerda as she travels on a daring adventure to save Cei and the world from the clutches of The Snow Queen.

The Snow Queen is written by internationally acclaimed playwright Charles Way Queen and is directed by Anna Linstrum, who comes to Sherman straight from working on The Sound of Music on London’s West End. The Snow Queen is on at Sherman from 28 November until 10 January.

This years show for the under 7s is an inventive new telling of the classic Cinderella story. The story follows the mischievous fairy folk, The Crimbils, as they attempt to rescue Cinders to get her to the ball in time to meet Prince Fraximus. With music, puppetry, dancing and singing, Cinders is a delightful show for younger children.

Cinders is written and directed by Louise Osborn and the cast includes Zoe Davies, Hannah McPake, Katy Owen and Jack Reynolds. Cinders opens at Sherman from 31 October – 1 November before touring throughout Wales, and then returning to Cardiff from 2 – 27 December.
