New Artists' Development

An Invitation

New Artists'

We are seeking applications from artists looking to develop their practice with a specific project within a professional theatre environment.

Are you an undiscovered talent?
Are you seeking to develop your craft in new exciting ways?
Do you need a platform to explore, experiment or simply try out some stuff?
Would access to resources, time, space, and advice from our team of skilled professionals help you move your artistic practice into a new realm?

New artists might include: Directors, Actors, Lighting Designers, Sound Designers, Designers, Choreographers, Dancers, Performance Poets, Performance Artists, Composers, Singers and all other performance practitioners.

We want to hear your ideas. We want to help you make work.

Projects could be purely developmental or could well result in public performances at Sherman.

Past projects include:

16 Northcott Avenue -
a specially created performance
in collaboration with Hide
Productions. The project
involved Utah Blue6 writers,
6 directors and 10 actors resulting in 3 performances at Sherman in September 2007.

Utah Blue - a restaging of Dic Edwards's classic with 4 actors from new production company, Give it a Name, resulting in 5 performances at the
Sherman in May 2008.

Match Play/Mark of the Man - The first public presentation from
Cardiff-based Ad Hoc Theatre Company of two one act plays in June 2008.

Applications for this scheme should state how this would help you develop and evolve as an artist and should include details of a particular project you wish to develop with us at Sherman Cymru.
For more information and to apply please contact Phillip Mackenzie

The next deadlines for submissions are:
15 November 2008
2 January 2009
15 May 2009

We welcome applications for projects in both English and Welsh.
